In Lawrence, Kansas, Coach Bill Self witnessed a historic moment that left him feeling ecstatic. With a record of 23-1 and 10-1 in the Big 12, Arizona was the top team in the nation, but Kansas had other plans.

Self's ability to find the right players in the portal era has been questioned, but with Council, he seems to have found his perfect fit. After two years of Kansas not competing for Big 12 titles, this team is back in the race, trailing Houston and Arizona by just one game.
Self is thrilled to be back in the fight, and he believes this team has the potential to go even further. "I don't know where our ceiling is, and I know we're not close to it yet. We've got another big step to take, and that's exciting."
