The Brewers boost their outfield depth by agreeing to terms with Akil Baddoo and adding Greg Jones on a Minor League deal with an invitation to big-league camp.
Akil Baddoo, a 27-year-old outfielder, inked a one-year contract on Thursday. His journey began when he was drafted by the Twins in 2016 and later claimed by Detroit in the Rule 5 Draft in 2020. Since debuting in 2021, he has spent parts of five seasons with the Tigers, compiling a .224/.305/.369 batting line with 28 home runs and 104 RBIs. In 2024, Baddoo appeared in seven games for Detroit.
Following the 2024 season, Baddoo was designated for assignment by the Tigers, but he returned to Detroit on a Minor League deal.
Additionally, infielder/outfielder Greg Jones agreed to a Minor League contract with an invitation to spring training.
This move continues the Brewers’ effort to strengthen depth across the roster, particularly in the outfield, while offering Baddoo an opportunity to reestablish himself at the major-league level and Jones a chance to showcase his versatility in camp and potentially earn a big-league spot.
