Atlanta Falcons Fire Raheem Morris & Terry Fontenot | Future of Falcons Coaching & GM Search (2026)

Boldly stepping into the spotlight, the Atlanta Falcons have made a significant shift in their leadership by parting ways with both Head Coach Raheem Morris and General Manager Terry Fontenot. This decision came after a crucial meeting held tonight in Atlanta with Arthur M. Blank, the Owner and Chairman of the team. The announcement follows the conclusion of the Falcons’ 2025 season, which wrapped up earlier today with a home game against the New Orleans Saints.

Raheem Morris was appointed as head coach after the 2023 season and had previously taken on the role of interim head coach during the last eleven games of the 2020 season. Over his two seasons as the permanent head coach, the Falcons recorded identical 8-9 finishes in both 2024 and 2025, culminating in a total coaching record of 16 wins and 18 losses, notably lacking any playoff appearances. During his interim stint in 2020, Morris led the team to a 4-7 record. On the other hand, Terry Fontenot concluded his fifth season with the Falcons, having joined the organization in 2021. Under his management, the team's record stood at 37 wins and 48 losses, also without any postseason success.

Arthur M. Blank expressed a heartfelt sentiment regarding the changes, stating, "I have great personal affinity for both Raheem and Terry and appreciate their hard work and dedication to the Falcons, but I believe we need new leadership in these roles moving forward. The decision to move away from people who represent the organization so well and have a shared commitment to the values that are important to the organization is not an easy one, but the results on the field have not met our expectations or those of our fans and leadership. I wish Raheem and Terry the absolute best in their future pursuits."

As the Falcons embark on a search for new leadership, efforts will commence immediately to fill both the head coach and general manager positions. ZRG Partners will be aiding in the search for a new head coach, while Sportsology Group will assist in finding a suitable general manager. Although no specific timeline has been established for the completion of these searches, they are set to take place simultaneously.

But here's where it gets controversial: Will this change in leadership truly lead to better outcomes for the Falcons, or could it risk further instability in the organization? It's a pivotal moment for the team, and fans are left wondering what direction the franchise will take next. What do you think about this decision? Do you agree with the moves being made, or do you feel they are premature? Share your thoughts!
